The Pacific Shellfish Research Unit (PSRU) in Newport, Oregon, is seeking a Supervisory Research Biologist/Microbiologist/Ecologist/Physiologist. As a Supervisory Research Leader (RL), the selectee will lead a team that is responsible for enhancing Pacific shellfish aquaculture including production in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, and California, primarily by developing and distributing genetically improved shellfish stocks but also promoting enhanced disease resiliency, modernizing production technologies, and transferring technologies to shellfish farmers. As Research Leader, the incumbent provides leadership for, and coordinates the interdisciplinary research programs of the PSRU. Serves as the unit fund holder and provides internal and external technical information and consultation. Hires personnel and manages human, fiscal, and physical resources.
